A New Life

I just returned from a week in Tallahassee, FL visiting a relative.   I can’t describe it as a vacation because I am retired, but it was the first time in 50 years that I have enjoyed the luxury of living a normal life without the trappings of hotels and fancy restaurants. No computers, no   newspaper, just relaxation and fun. I had time to sit on the front porch swing with Ethelda and just relax.

The experience was absolutely wonderful and I was even introduced to a round of   golf. When anticipating retirement I had constructed a 200 yard hole on my   property with a putting green but this was the first time that I walked a  course and experienced the difficulty of hitting that little ball.  I am  hooked now and plan to practice every day. Having spent my adult life in the cocoon of representing others,  I developed a persona of being on stage when in public, never becoming   anonymous in a crowd of strangers so the experience was refreshing.

I truly enjoyed the week that included a trip to Thomasville, Georgia and the Wakulla Spring Park to see alligators and manatee’s up close.

It is about time that you found out what true retirement is. My wife, Donna and I have traveled across the US in a RV and enjoyed the no hassle day to day life of retirees. NO calls about the contract, OWCP or anything Union related. Enjoy it, my Friend, as there is more coming to you!
