Point of Contact

I know that the union officers are pissed at me because of my criticism of the 2010 national agreement, but I am receiving numerous inquiries about the retirement incentive.  While I am in no position to respond, these employees are entitled to a union official responding to their questions.  I can only advise that they contact a union official, but it is impractical for the officers to respond to the volume of phone calls and letters so if I can offer a suggestion.  A knowledgeable officer or staff person can be designated who understands the incentive agreement and retirement rules.  This can be accomplished electronically via emails.  It will be necessary to announce the contact point so a News Bulletin can be published with the necessary information identifying the contact point(s) with numbers.  Those employees who have a need to receive a response to a pressing question on the incentive would receive a prompt answer to their inquiry.  This is an important time in their lives and they are in need of timely answers to their questions.  So I ask that the officers put aside any animosity because of my criticism and provide this service.  You can say that it was your idea.

Why doesn’t the APWU utilize their web site and post information about the supplement. I think the confusion is that under Vera you do receive the supplement but it begins only at your minimum retirement age. I wish APWU would utilize their web site to it’s full potential.
